What is ALTS?
Adult Learn-to-Swim (ALTS) are swim lessons for adult (18+) non-swimmers. Certified instructors will work with one or two adults for an hour-long session. Instructors will work with individuals who are fearful of the water. Participants will start lessons in the shallow end of the pool and proceed at their own pace.
When are lessons offered?
The clinic is every Saturday from April 13th to May 4th.
What does it cost?
Lessons are $40 for four 40-minute sessions. A free pair of goggles and a swim cap are included.
Where are the lessons held?
lessons will be held at the Sylvania Schools Natatorium, located on the Sylvania Northview High School campus.
After taking lessons, it may be possible for an ALTS participant to join the swim practices of Sylvania Masters Swim Club. This will be determined by the instructor. An ALTS participant could join as a bridge swimmer, or as a full member. See ALTS Bridge Membership in a separate section for more details.
What do I need to bring?
Print, complete, and sign the USMS 30-day Trial Membership Application. You will need to bring this to your first session.
